Refuge

“Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.” Psalm 16:1 

A refuge is a place of shelter and protection. It is a place of safety. God’s wonderful promise is that he himself is our refuge. He doesn’t just provide us a place of refuge, he himself is our refuge. Take a few moments to meditate on the power of this promise as you read the following verses. 

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2) 

“Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.” (Psalm 25:20) 

“Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.” (Psalm 31:2) 

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8) 

“The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.” (Psalm 34:22) 

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1) 

“Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” (Psalm 57:1) 

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” (Psalm 59:16) 

“My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.” (Palm 62:7)
