Recommend Your Faith
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14
Recommendations are the life blood of social media and ecommerce. Sellers ask for reviews, hoping to receive recommendations and endorsements of their products and services. Re-posting, or sharing, is another form of recommendation. When you re-post you’re essentially saying, “I identify with this, and I like it enough to recommend it to you.” Online recommendations in all their various forms are the key to going viral.
With that in mind please reread the verse above and ask yourself, “How am I doing in recommending my faith? The Bible calls on us to actively recommend our faith through all of the ways we communicate: through the spoken word, through the written word, and through our lifestyle. Following His resurrection, Jesus commissioned us to be His representatives and He sent us out on a mission of sharing our faith with others. “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20).
And the apostle Paul tells us that God “has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:19-20). It’s encouraging and challenging to think that God has entrusted us with this incredible responsibility. May we fulfill this responsibility by recommending our faith day by day through the way we live our lives.
