I Am With You
“Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: “I am with you,” declares the Lord.” Haggai 1:13
When God created the heavens and the earth, He didn’t just set them in motion and then leave them unattended. The Bible tells us clearly that God watches over all that he has made (Psalms 104 and 145).
But it’s more than that. Far more. God also gives us His personal promise that He will be with us as we follow where He leads. The phrases “I am with you“ and “I will be with you” are found repeatedly in scripture. When Moses asked, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” God answered, “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:11-12) With that promise Moses was fully equipped to go.
God doesn’t promise that we’ll never face trials or challenges or hardships. But He does promise to be with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He even goes before us to prepare the way. Consider just these four verses and grow in confidence that God is with you as you follow Him.
God’s promise to Jacob: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Genesis 28:15)
God’s promise to Joshua: “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
God’s promise to Israel: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
The promise of Jesus to all who follow him: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
Are you trusting God’s promise to be with you?
