God is Faithful

For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. Psalm 33:4
God is faithful. That means that God is true to his purposes. It means that he is firmly devoted to accomplishing what he promises. We can take great comfort in the faithfulness of God and it should motivate us to trust him ever more fully. He will never leave us or forsake us, and he will never fail us or leave us without hope, because he is faithful in his love for us.
Faithfulness is foundational to the character of God. Scripture frequently sites the ongoing faithfulness of God to encourage us. Psalm 117:2 says, “For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.” And Psalm 100:5 tells us that “his faithfulness continues through all generations.” God never sleeps and his faithfulness never lapses. In human beings we frequently see failures in faithfulness. We often have a hard time living up to our commitments. But God’s faithfulness never fails. It endures forever. He is always true to his word.
We can rely on God to be faithful, both in the big picture and in the daily circumstances of our personal lives. Psalm 91:4 says, “his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” A rampart is a fortification consisting of an embankment like a wall around a fort. It’s a defensive protection that enables you to stand your ground and it is a good metaphor for how God’s faithfulness protects and helps us as we try to live for him. God does indeed care about what you’re facing today and you can count on him to be faithful in meeting you in your need.
